AVAILABLE TAPESTRIES
Mini Navajo Tapestries, designed, warped and woven by Michael Paul Teller, Navajo Weaver – Tucson, AZ
Each tapestry measures 5” high by 5” wide. Weft count varies from 112 to 116. Warp, selvage cords and weft are all wool. A mixture of commerically purchased wool but respun for a finer weft and aniline dyed with handspun, hand blended wood wefts by my mother Barbara Teller Ornelas. Some of the wool wefts were dyed by my maternal aunt Lynda Teller Pete, using natural dyed extracts and cochineal and rabbit brush. We are a Two Grey Hills family and have only hand blended wool for color variations. My aunt is doing experimental dyeing and learning the process of overdyeing and other techniques. She is only doing natural dyes so the patina of the entire textile with mixed wool wefts will age gracefully. The textiles can be purchased framed or unframed with no price difference.
